          ¶ Chapt. 2. of y^e nature of y^e Catholike

          church in general, & in special of a

          pticular visible church.

The Catholike church is y^e whole company

of those that are Elected, redeemed, & in tyme

effectually called from y^e state of sinne & death

unto a state of grace & salvation in Jesus Cht, Eph.

1.22, 23. Eph. 5.25, 26, 27, 30. Heb. 12.23.

This church is either Triumphant or militant:

triumphant, y^e number of y^m who are glorified

in heaven (v). Militant, y^e number of y^m who

are conflicting w^th their enemies upon earth

This militant church is to be considered as Invi=

sible, and visible. Invisible, ^^(f) in respect of the

relation wherein they stand to Cht, as a body to

y^e head, being united unto him by y^e spirit of

God ^^(u) and faith in their hearts ^ ^(w). Visible, in re=

spect of the profession of their faith, in their

psons & in pticular churches ^^(x) and so there
