          ¶ Chapt. 2. of ye nature of ye Catholike

          church in general, & in special of a

          pticular visible church.

The Catholike church is ye whole company

of those that are Elected, redeemed, & in tyme

effectually called from ye state of sinne & death

unto a state of grace & salvation in Jesus Cht, Eph.

1.22, 23. Eph. 5.25, 26, 27, 30. Heb. 12.23.

This church is either Triumphant or militant:

triumphant, ye number of ym who are glorified

in heaven (v). Militant, ye number of ym who

are conflicting wth their enemies upon earth

This militant church is to be considered as Invi=

sible, and visible. Invisible, ^(f) in respect of the

relation wherein they stand to Cht, as a body to

ye head, being united unto him by ye spirit of

God ^(u) and faith in their hearts ^ (w). Visible, in re=

spect of the profession of their faith, in their

psons & in pticular churches ^(x) and so there

may be [crossed out] acknowledged an universall visible
