    Sr.

This day We have certain advice of St Johns being attacked by a french fleet.546 All the particulars that the Master of the Vessel now come in ^brings^ are contained in the enclosed Declaration. I am endeavouring to get a Vessel to sail immediately to carry these advices to Sr George Pococke.547 But as I dont know at present whom I can get, I would ^not^ thereby prevent your sending the like express. I am, with great regard,

Sr Your most obedient humble Servant

    Fra. Bernard.

    His Excellency Sr Jeffry Amherst.
