    Boston Feb 16. 1763

    My Lord

    I received the honor of your Lordship’s Letter Signifying his Majesty’s commands for my publishing his Royal Proclamations for a Cessation of arms.710 As the general Assembly of the Province was then sitting, I immediately communicated these good tidings to the Council & the House of Representatives, who Very cordially joined with me in the solemnities used upon this occasion & have since presented to me an address expressing their sentiments upon this happy Event.

    A Copy of this Address I beg leave to lay before your Lordship, as a public Testimonial of the unanimous Voice of the people of this Province in their grateful presentment of his Majestys paternal Care of the intrest of his American Subjects.
