16 Cambridge’s Response to the Appeal for Funds

    The voluntary contribution of severall the inhabitants of Cambridge for the use and Bennifit of Harvard Colledge to be paid in two years upon Condition that other Townes doe give somwhat in a like proportion, and also that it be disposed of to the satisfaction of their Deputyes this

    the some is one hundred and fifty pounds—£150.00s00d Taken by Thomas Cheshollme and Thomas Danforth by the Townes appointment.

    Corporation Papers. Chesholme and Danforth were Cambridge Deputies; Chesholme was College Steward at this time, and Danforth was College Treasurer.
