    I have but just time to write three Lines to you by Mr. Bordman1 to tell you we are got wel and under a very good gale by the Brewsters; hope by tomorrow morning to be at Casco. Love me and Remember me, give my Duty to Madam Rogers and bless the Dear Birds in the name of

    John Leverett Papers; framed and hanging in Leverett House, Harvard University. This letter was written during the unsuccessful expedition to Port Royal; Leverett was one of three Commissioners, appointed to counsel the commanding officer. The Massachusetts Historical Society (Washburn Collection III) has two other letters from Leverett to his wife during this time. Leverett became President of the College in October of this year.
