49 Stephen Day’s Affidavit Regarding the Glover Family Silver

    [April 2 1656]

I Steven Day do attest that Mrs. Jess Glover brought over in to this Country a very faire and large silver bason and eure, and a greate Quantity of plate, in spoons, dishes, cups, bowles, tankards, &c. The number and weight whereof I cannot certainely expresse, but sure I am a faire and full cubbard of plate there was as might ordinarily be seen in most Gentlemens houses in England the which plate I saw set forth since Mr. Dunsters mariage to Mrs. Glover. The [which?] plate I cannot judge to be lesse worth in England than £200 but do rather conceive it to be worth much more.

    attested upon oath in Court.

    by Steven Day.

    Thomas Danforth Recorder.

    [Endorsed:] Mr. Day Test.—plate—£200.
