396 Joshua Moody to President Wadsworth

    Falmouth September 16th, 1732

    Reverend Sir

Your Favour of the 12th Currant came to my Hands this Day, and after a considerable search I found the Power of Attorney you make mention of from Mr. President Leverett to my Father (which You have now inclosed) impowering Him to prosecute any Person that should trespass upon Merriconneag Neck. But cannot learn from any thing I can find among his Papers that ever any Person was prosecuted (by Vertue of said Power) for Trespass done upon said Neck. I must refer you to the Letter you received by Mr. Mountfort, from Mr. Cutter &c., where you have the Mens Names who now are in Possession of Merricanneag, and in who’s Right they improve the same; I have been lately informed that Col. Harmon is now building a House about the middle of the Neck for the Gentlemen of the Pejepscott Company so called, and that he keeps a sloop or two constantly inployed in carrying off Lumber from said Land. If I can be any ways serviceable to the Colledge in the Affair, You may command me, which is the needfull at present from

    Your very Humble

    Joshua Moody

Please to give my Duty to Mr. Flynt.

[Endorsed:] Mr. Joshua Moodey’s Received Oct 21, 1732 about Merriconeag.

[Addressed:] To the Reverend Mr. Benjamin Wadsworth, President of Harvard College, These.
