468 Tanner–Reynolds Bond

    …Wee Peter Reynolds of North Kingston in Kings County in the Colony of Rhode island and Providence Plantations in New England Yeoman, William Tanner, Yeoman and Peter Rennolds, Weaver both of North Kingstown, aforesaid are holden … unto Edward Holyoke of Cambridge … President of Harvard-College … in the full and just summ of six hundred Pounds … Sealed with our Seals. Dated the 14th day of October in the fourteenth year of our Soverigne Lord George the Second over Great Brittaine &c. King A.D. 1740.

    The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas the abovesaid Peter Reynolds hath by an Indenture made the eighteenth Day of October Anno Domini 1739, taken to Farm for the space of three Years from the 25th Day of March which shall be in the Year of our Lord 1750, to the 25th Day of March 1753, a Parcel of land scituate in North Kingston afforesaid belonging to said Harvard College, and hath by said Indenture covenanted to pay to the Treasurer of said Harvard-College as Rent for the said demised Premises One Hundred Pounds in good bills of Credit on the Province of the Massachusetts-bay or Colony of Rhode Island, or in Current Silver Money of New-England Yearly during the Term of the said Indenture or Lease—And hath also Covenanted that he will prune, manure and open the Ground about the Trees of the Orchard that shall at the Commencement of the said Indenture or Lease be upon the premises and keep the said Orchard constantly inclosed with good Fence.

    And hath further Covenanted that He will clear and subdue (besides the Seventy Acres which he was obliged to by a former Lease of the Premises) One hundred and thirty Acres of the said demised Premises so that at the Expiration of the Lease herein first mentioned, it shall be fit for Mowing and Tillage, and that He will inclose said hundred and thirty Acres with good Fence and leave it so inclosed.

    And hath further Covenanted to pay all Taxes that may [be] levied on the Premises, dureing the Term of his said Lease, and at the expiration thereof surrender the Premises …
